Also, it sounds completely different than utilizing a clipper plug-in, but it's the same principle. works really well on dirty bass/Reese sounds, as you can totally square off the transients, resample and layer, but this method certainly doesn't work on everything. Crank the gain up with a compressor or utility plug-in (I use Sonalksis Free G to boost the gain) and reshape the waveform, which gives loads of interesting harmonics. Lately I've really enjoyed manually clipping my bass sounds in FL's mixer and resampling. I find it gives me the results very quickly, and I (for the most part) prefer Trash's algorithms to those in Ohmicide. incredibly versatile, it contains various filters and speaker/cabinet emulations. I like the "auto" switch that automatically reduces the output level as the gain is increased, so it's super easy to find the sweet spot. As far as sound quality is concerned, it's top notch. iZotopes Trash 2 is arguably the most creative distortion/saturation plugin ever.
